ALANA CAFÉ - "It is no exaggeration to say Alana has been performing her whole life. Aged just 4, Alana joined her mother on stage at Australia Day celebrations in her home town of Rylstone, near Bathurst in country New South Wales. She is now well known locally as a performer.
Growing up in a musical family, Alana was given the opportunity to train extensively in voice and dance. Most recently, she is finding great success as a Jazz and Blues performer, a style reinforced by her passion for the entertainment and culture of the 1940s and 1950s, and her musical inspirations of Julie London, Peggy Lee and Sarah Vaughan.
Alana's success, however, also lies in her versatility. Her dedication to singing has been rewarded with lead roles in numerous musical theatre productions, including Alice In Wonderland, Les Miserables, and The Witches of Eastwick.
Alana's unique voice and performance style never fails to impress and she performs regularly at private and corporate events.
Whether it be indulging her love of musical theatre, or delving into the jazz culture of the past, Alana is passionate about sharing her music and pursuing a professional singing career." Costs and Ticketing: Free

Cabonne Mayor Bob Dowling said the competition offers cash prizes in five categories and he urged local residents to enter.
“The competition caters for everyone, not only established and aspiring artists, and is a fun way of spreading a serious message,” he said.

As well as cash prizes for the most inspiring artwork in each category, there will be an overall winner and a people’s choice award. The best entries will be included in a regional exhibition and competition to be in June.
The five categories are primary school, high school, community, building/sculpture and open. Professional artists are eligible to enter the open category.

WASTE TO ART is a community art exhibition and competition open to all local residents who reside in the NetWaste region. It showcases creative works made from reused & recyclable waste materials. The aim is to challenge peoples’ perceptions about ‘rubbish’ and to celebrate the reuse and recycling of waste through arts and crafts.
This innovative approach to waste education invites schools and community groups to take up the challenge and create a new life for materials that would otherwise have been thrown away, considered useless: bottle tops, plastic bags, old bus tickets, parts from rusty farm machinery, old horse shoes, buttons, and the list goes on. Age of Fishes Museum
Heritage/Museums - Exhibition
Open hours are 10am to 4pm 7 days
Including most Public Holidays. Venue: Age of Fishes Museum, CANOWINDRA
Imagine a world ruled by fish! Long before the dinosaurs the mighty rivers of the Central West teamed with bizarre ancient fishes - fish with armour shells, fish with lungs, and huge predators with jaws like crocodiles. Thousands of their fossils were found at Canowindra and give us a unique glimpse into life during the Devonian Period - the 'Age of Fishes'.
A chance discovery in 1955 revealed an extensive fossil bed dating from the Devonian Period. This 360 million year old formation contained the fossilised remains of over 3500 freshwater fish. Many were new to science. This unique fossil collection is now on public display in the township of Canowindra, only a short distance from the discovery location.
The Museum displays many of these beautiful fossils together with live aquarium displays and wonderful recreations of life in the Devonian.

Heritage/Museums - Exhibition
Saturday 10am – 12noon or by arrangement
Venue: Canowindra Historical Museum , CANOWINDRA
The museum buildings are on part of the original 317 acres granted to Pierce Collits as compensation for loss of trade after the building of Victoria Pass bypassed his Collits In at the foot of Mount York.
The first stage of the museum was formerly a one-teacher school at Murga built in 1915 and moved in 1970 with the aid of a Captain Cook Bicentenary Grant. Buildings were gradually extended on land acquired from the Railways.
In 1988 the former station master’s house was bought and restored with a Bicentenary Grant as part of the museum complex. This cottage, built in 1910 to a standard railway design with a high pitched roof and feature chimneys, forms an important conclusion to one end of the heritage listed main street.
The museum depicts the development of Canowindra from its beginnings as a 1840s frontier settlement through its growth as a centre for a rich agricultural district.
There are vehicles of the horse drawn era and vintage farm implements and machinery that reflect the importance of lucerne, wheat and wool.
An authentic slab hut, woolshed and tiny weatherboard shop have been relocated and house thematic displays.
The main building displays household items, a dental surgery, textiles and wedding gowns of local brides from 1886 onwards.
Most areas of the Canowindra Historical Museum are wheelchair accessible. The museum is adjacent to the Visitor Information Centre which has disabled toilet facilities.

Chifley Home is a monument to Ben Chifley who was known as 'the man of the people'. The house reveals the domestic life of a person who rose from humble beginnings as an engine driver on the NSW railways to the nation's most important political office in 1945 as Prime Minister during the critical period of post World War II reconstruction. He represents the 'Aussie Battler' and the will to succeed.
The house on Busby Street remained Ben's quiet retreat during his years in parliament. Today, the five roomed house contains the original furnishings and many personal effects of Ben and Elizabeth Chifley as well as significant memorbilia of the Chifley era.
The home has been preserved by Bathurst Regional Council. The people of Bathurst have pride in the fact that Ben Chifley, one of Australia's great Prime Ministers, was born in Bathurst and always called the city home.

(Closed July) Venue: Miss Traill's House and Garden, BATHURST
Built by the Reverend Thomas Sharpe in 1845 soon after land became available in the Bathurst area, Miss Traill’s House and Garden is named after Ida Traill, a socially prominent, independently wealthy resident, who lived in this pretty Colonial Georgian bungalow from 1931 until her death at 87 in 1976.
Ida Traill was a descendant of early settlers in the region. Her great grandfathers, pioneering freeholders, were amongst 10 men selected by Governor Macquarie to explore and settle the area, which became Bathurst, one of Australia's first inland cities.
The home Ida bequeathed to the National Trust (1976) - to ensure it would not be demolished to make way for ‘progress’ - is today an elegant house museum containing Ida Traill’s significant collection of artifacts relating to four generations of the Lee and Kite families. Together with her tasteful furniture, intriguing horseracing memorabilia, paintings and ceramics, they are linked to the house and the early history of Bathurst.
