Young ConsultantsYoung Consultants: Youth with youth in mind The Arts OutWest Young Consultants group has been formed give Arts OutWest an insight into the wants and needs of young people in the region, with a strong focus on culture and the arts. The group comprises young people from all over the Central West and will work to bring events and opportunities to the youth of their town/city. The young people will also be a point of contact in each town for Arts OutWest staff.
Young Consultants weekendOver a weekend in April 2010 a group of 16-21 year olds from the Central West met in Bathurst and became the first members of the Arts OutWest Young Consultants. Under the guidance of Youth Development Officer Zoe Rodwell, the group discussed matters of arts in rural areas, youth culture, the spread of the arts and the pros and cons of arts communication channels. Over the weekend they also designed a logo, produced digital media content and hosted their own half hour radio show on 2MCE. In 2010 they plan to expand the group, solidify links between members and begin to put into action some of what was discussed.
