ArtStart

ArtStart is a NSW Government initiative for young people aged 12 to 24. The biennial program builds skills and community networks through creative projects and events at a local level and online.

ArtStart is funded through TAFE NSW. Arts OutWest has ran the ArtStart program in the Central West since the 1990s.

The regional program was run in partnership with Orana Arts who also ran workshops in their four local government areas.

Projects in 2009 involved a large number of local, young practitioners as the workshop facilitators, including workshops assisted by current Charles Sturt University students.

Videos form 2009 program

Below is the are short hip hop tracks and film clips made in Oberon and Molong as part of the 2009 ArtStart program. Both were made by Desert Pea Media. The Oberon High School clip was made through a partnership with Veritas House (Bathurst) over one school term and involved all students in year 9 at the school.
