Ralph Tikerpae
Boat 2005
Welded steel
H: 3000 x W: 3100 x D: 1800mm - $1800
Ralph’s recent series ‘The Captain and his Wife’
looked at the European ‘Seed-stock’ as it approached
and invaded Australia over 200 years ago. A metal skeleton of a
boat stranded inland is a reminder of the European ‘conquest’
of terra nullis.

Heather Vallance
Adam and Eve 2005
Mild steel
H: 2200 x W: 1500 x D: 50mm - $2000
The garden is the key to the biblical story of ‘Adam and
Eve’. For me, creation and the beginning of the human race
described in the story of Adam and Eve is synonymous with the beginnings
of spring. “Eve saw the fruit of the tree was good for food
and pleasing to the eye and good for gaining wisdom, so she took
some and ate it” and hence allowed humanity to have the wisdom
to understand and experience both good and evil as one is not complete
without the other.

Sally Watson
Leaf 2005
Mild steel and wire
H: 1800 x W:690 x D: 190mm - $500
The large leaf was inspired by the beauty of nature and its intricacies,
in particular the Eucalyptus tree. The Eucalyptus leaf is a symbol
of the Australian bush and there are hundreds of native species.
This leaf is loosely based on the leaf of the Snow Gum or White
Sally (Eucalyptus pauciflora) which grows in and around Orange.
