the sun becoming blindly white, a contrast to the colours and shades

Rhythm of a murder 2005
Zincalume, paint and steel
H: 3400 x W: 3300 x D: 3300mm - $1590
This work has grown from an idea since the 2004 drought, when I
looked up to the sound of busy wing-beats to see a group or ‘murder’
of crows overhead looking downwards to spy out any weak animals.

Alleles 2005
Steel and corrugated iron
H: 3000 x W: 100 x D: 1500mm - $2500
The title is a botanical term, ‘Alleles’ define a gene
depending on their dominant/recessive relationship. They determine
characteristics& genetic variation. The stark oversized simplistic
shapes represent evolving motion and their physical association
to each other exposing the fragile dominant/recessive relationship.
The lacerated corrugated iron relates to the deeper darker side
of genetic variation.

Piece by Piece 2005
Mixed media installation
Size variable - $250
The destruction of our natural environment by deforestation, contamination,
global warming and pollution may seem far away from our local concerns
yet is something we should think about. Each bottle, containing
a unique botanic specimen, floating in isolation within a cluster,
reflects the idea that each unique person may perform one small
isolated act which aids to benefit the global community.

Emerge 2005
Cane and wallpaper
H: 2000 x W: 670 x D: 670mm - $2000
Walking amongst us are many who have experienced a dramatic change
in their lives. Whether it be a sea-change, new love, birth of a
child, illness, or a death. These things can precedent a deep emotional/
spiritual rebirth. My cocoon is about emerging into a new phase
in life, where so profound is that transformation that like the
pupae to butterfly, a new person walks amongst us.
