Murmurings 2005
Chiffon and rope
Each H: 1300 x W: 1100mm - $175 each
This work was conceived in response to the original strains of
apple trees in the orchard. Extracts from a letter written in 1882
by one of the earliest settlers reminds us of the tenacity of our
predecessors. Could Elizabeth have brought the very first apple
seeds over the Blue Mountains?

David Henley
Octopole 2005
Timber and eucalyptus branches
Size variable maximum H: 3000mm
This work reflects the celebration of the medieval seasonal festival
occurring in the earth’s northern hemisphere – the ‘Mayday’
or ‘Maypole’ festival. The migration and integration
of customs is similar to the botanic migration of introduced species
collected at the gardens. The eight branches (offspring) represent
new spirit figures (new species) and are turned upside down the
way the north sees us ‘down under’.

ZENA 2005
Oxy cut & welded steel
H: 2400 x W: 1200 x D:1200 - $8000
After a study tour to Europe & researching the Celtic people,
as an artist & welder I enjoy the fact that they used steel
for exquisite pieces of art. It is a material of strength, able
to succumb to heat for the artist’s use.

Remnants 1-6 2005
Sand and plaster
Size variable Min H: 20 x W:100 x D: 80mm Max H: 300 x W: 800 x
D: 1300mm - Price range from $65 to $450
As the urban sprawl continues to envelope Australia’s agricultural
land much of our rural heritage is lost. However, if we just scratch
under the surface we find remnants of those that went before us
- our recent rural history.

Christine Lanham
Wedgetail 2005
Recycled agricultural metal
Dimensions TBA - $6000
It has always troubled me that many farmers and farming communities
attitudes to conservation is conditional on the commercial value
of flora or fauna. I have tried to resurrect this bird using the
very implements that have cleared and cultivated its habitat.

Twigloo Cubbies 2005
Branches, fibre, string, wire, wax and plaster
Size variable - POA
For me the cubby house is a powerful symbolic structure, constructed
like a model to become a refuge. It is a place for adventure and
imaginative role play.
