Artists, writers, musicians and performers, multi-media artists and anyone involved in the creative arts are all welcome to attend a weekend Symposium dedicated to practitioners, educators and students, as part of the In SITE Out special program.

Saturday 3 rd November

9am Coffee and registration

10am Welcome and Introductions by all participants

11am Professional Practice Session 1 – Special guest – AñA Wojak, multi-media, installation and performance artist, currently Sydney Royal Botanic Gardens Artist in Residence. AñA will speak about site specificity and innovative arts practice in the context of her residency and body of work.

12pm Professional Practice Session 2 – The need to know how, stimulating ideas Part 1 Joanna Anglesey(Tasmania), will speaking about her practice and experience of Art and Ephemera – The Personal and the Political. Ken Hutchinson (Cowra), present sculptural commissions and opportunities

1pm Lunch – tour IN Site OUT in the gardens

2pm Professional Practice session 3 - – The need to know how, stimulating ideas Part 2 Fiona Davies is a visual artist who has worked extensively with various forms of archives, ideas of narrative and the telling of stories in the context of natural history museum, house museum and art gallery practice. Nyree Reynolds (Gamillaroi artist), will speak about how she has been developing her arts practise, the challenges and the successes

3pm Afternoon tea

3.30pm Professional Practice Session 4 – What works introduced by Hannah Semler, Arts OutWest

Then in 2 groups.

Group 1 Kylie Shead , event production manager – staging events in outdoor environments Group 2 Gabriella Hegyes, In Site Out coordinator, sculptor, installation artist & photographer - planning and designing, implementing, documenting

5pm Close – adjourn for drinks at local venue

Sunday 4 th November

11am Professional Practice Session 5 Anne Lord lives and works in Townsville, the dry tropics, and will speak about her practice and research – ephemeral objects in art.

12pm Official opening In SITE Out and CENTROC’s TasteWaste presentations

12.30 - 1.30 Lunch Refreshments – garden wander, meet other artists

1.30pm Professional practice session 6 – Working with Galleries, Alan Sisley, director Orange Regional Gallery

3pm – 4pm Plenary session – Creating a future

Multi-disciplines are to be encouraged and anticipated.

Everyone is encouraged to bring material to show and tell.

Cost: $75 includes lunch and refreshments both days. Single day $50.
