What the arts media program is, how it works, including when and where to hear Arts OutWest on the air and how to have your event listed.

Arts OutWest runs an arts media program aimed at gaining media coverage and public awareness of arts and cultural events in the Central West. We aim to showcase the scope, quality, quantity and unique character of the arts and culture that happens in our part of the world.

The arts media program has been running for more than 30 years in one form or another (the first weekly listings of arts events to local media went out in 1978) and promotes over 2000 events and hundreds of opportunities every year. As part of the core, funded program of Arts OutWest, the arts media program is a FREE service for the Central West.

Activities of the arts media program

• The events calendar and cultural directory
• Gathering and promoting arts news from the Central West
• The monthly Artspeak newsletter
• Daily and weekly arts calendar, arts news and artist profile spots on local and regional radio stations

• The monthly Arts Sunday project with Fairfax/ Rural Press (arts news online features on the first Sunday of the month)
  

• A monthly online digest of opportunities in the arts
Editorial and event listings for local, regional and national print and online publications
• Regular suggestions of good arts stories to local TV news
• Content for the Regional Arts NSW e-bulletin
• Media and arts marketing advice and support for people in the region organising events, and for promoters of touring exhibitions and shows (see our support info for tour promoters)
• Workshops on media writing skills and arts marketing
• We can also team up with tourism and business groups to supply materials for trade shows, careers expos and country week showing the range of great arts and culture in our region
• Social media sites focused on regional arts issues (such as youth arts focussed pages)
